Crushing speed question 33 ft. Trojan sport fisher

I just bought a 33 ft. Trojan sport fisher with two 454's. I have been cruising it at 8 to 9 knots since I bought to it 2 months ago. I was reading about cruising speeds for 454 motors. 3000-3200 rpm is what everyone is saying. I know im probably wasting fuel going that slow. Does anyone have experience with this boat and cruising speed? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

here are the numbers from my 1983 Trojan International express cruiser before the refit.
one is the data, the other is a fuel/speed chart
you will have to click on each one, I don't know how to make them smaller
data collected with digital tach synchs, floscan & GPS.

You would do better on fuel at 7 knots 8-9 is above hull speed . A lot of folks will cruse at 3000-3200 rpm , but youll burn a lot more fuel then going slow .

You're numbers will probably a little worse than RWS's as you are heavier and have more sail area. 7-8 knots is my new "cruise" speed. Saves a lot on gas. I pick it up when it gets rough or I need to get back sooner. Otherwise, I plan for a longer trip. My boat great at higher speeds, actually faster than cruise for the 454. Fuel burn is crazy though.

actually .81 NMPG = .932 statute miles per gallon.
In consideration of the size and girth of the hull . . . . .
AND the comfort, and the amenities....
this number is really not all that bad
compare this to say a Ski Ray 38' with 454's

I believe Kline444's boat pictured, is a 10.8 meter. 2 hatches and 3 port lites?
@Kline444, does it have a bait station or room for one, behind the bridge ladder?

Yes Kiwi it does have a bait tank behind the fly bridge ladder. I took the boat out this weekend and went a little faster this time. I found that going about 2900 rpm I was going about 13 knots. That seemed to be the best speed. Does anybody know the minimum planing speed for this hull?
Also noticed my starboard engine getting a little hotter than port side.

With the exception of the pre-production models which had four port lites, the ten meters built before the change over to the mid cabin based design all had three port lites and two centerline hatches.
This covers the express, convertible and aft cabin models.

Welcome and I could swear that in your photo, it looks like your boat is sitting at the Isthmus / Two harbors, Catalina Island !
