OK, if you drink alot on the boat you can call it a saloon but if you get your hair done on the boat you can call it a salon, ok?... ok.

What if you spend most of your time working on the boat?

hmmmmmmm carver mariner people would have a 'ranch style with crawl space' since everything is on one level without really going up any steps. f-32/f-36 sedans would be a basic split level, while i guess us tri cabin folks would have a 3 level split of split foyer? or maybe a multi level townhouse?
whenever i'm working, especially standing in the forward galley area during boarding, i love when a passenger walks up and asks if he can 'use the head' before we leave the gate. first thing out is 'sure', second, 'what type of boat do you have'. after that it's boat conversation during most of the flight, much to the dismay of my fellow f/a's. makes for a better day at work none the less.

Oh, and if you gossip about other people while getting your hair done on the boat you can call it a salon. I have sat and waited to meet my wife at the hair salon and it's amazing some of the conversations I have overheard. My wife and I both agreed that we will never call ours a salon, though it does slip out once in a while. Livingroom works well for her even though she is a nautical girl and runs the boat most of the time.
