looking for a 400 cid chrysler standard rotater
Through a rod on my starboard (standard rotation?) 400 CID Chrysler engine yesterday.
Anyone have a line on a long block? short block or good used engine? I am in Midland Ontario.
Thanks.

Jimbo. There is a 70s 400 on Akron Oh craigs list asking $250. If its stock the block should work for you.

Another thought. You could call musclemotorsracing.com they have built race engines for me and they are top notch. They only deal with Chrysler products and I'm sure they could help you. They are located in northern Michigan.

Once you start the job it would be great to see some pics on how you removed and replaced the engine especially if yours are under the rear beds as mine are on my 73 Tri cabin

Thanks Big D, I tried Kawartha but will try the other. Barrie, I looked at this motor and discovered there are 2 400's. This is a car engine and it looks like I need the truck engine 400B.
Re: looking for a 400 cid chrysler standard rotater
My understanding is there was only one 400 block, crank, rod, piston engine.
I've been messing with Chryslers for 30 years. You should be able to use the short block and add all your externals and your good to go.
I could be wrong but I've never heard of any other 400 block
The B block is for the big blocks 383, 400 and some other older big blocks 318 etc.
The RB is raised big block most commonly 440 for a taller stroke.

Barrie is 100% correct. Car, truck, boat , crane, generator, motor home all the same parts. IMHO if I were to build a pair of b block mopars I would use factory spec bottom end and a good set of heads. All marine specs. Very dependable and powerful.

I have since discovered you guys are right, one 400 CID. Someone who I would have expected to be an expert gave me wrong information.Reel Easy wrote:Barrie is 100% correct.
