transmissions on a F 40
We have a 1979/1980 40 ft rear aft cabin F40 does anyone know what transmissions we have, she has DD 671 naturals engines, cannot found any plates on them and they are cover in thick rust caused by the raw water pumps sit above them and have leak salt water on them over the years, Thank you

Most likely a Capitol or a twin disc and posabley a Allison They used all 3 I posted in the order of the most comon from what I have seen.. are both water Pumps leaking on the gears ? Shame on you !!

By the Id plate ( I know its gone) or may have the name cast into it . some folks can tell by looking . try posting a photo on boatdiesel , I can tell by looking at it in some cases I worked on one with a Captol gear .
try WD 40 on the lever and keep working it back and forth it may free up
