When a thread no longer provides useful dialog or turns into a pointless pissing match then it should be shut down. Just like on the playground if we don't play nice the ball gets taken away. I am surprised he let it run as long as he did must have been out on the boat.

It did get very personal between a few folks. Was not very constructive after awhile.

speaking as both a member of this board, as well as a former moderator for another forum (battleground europe forums...a very large mmpog, but anyhoos...) i EXPECT to see a moderator keep things under control.

as foofer says, it's his ball...we have to play by his rules or take our toys and go home. if no one polices things, it'll get totally out of control and before you know it, it'll be chaos...CHAOS i say!

besides, if you want to get into a pissing contest with someone after the topic has been called in by the mod, simply take it to private ims and/or emails...then hack away to your heart's content.

just my .2 worth.

Better still - just agree to disagree and move on. Makes for much more pleasant reading in the forum...

I enjoy a good debate on most subjects, but when the first personal attack comes from a member of the forum to another member of the forum, it is no longer a debate!

I have seen this happen time and time again. Sometimes it is so disturbing to me, it may take a few days for it to pass.

I just can't understand why this is done? I have seen it happen on other forums also.

As for myself,,,just as soon as the first name calling is done by someone, the moderator should send a personal e-mail and let that person know this will not be tolerated and his or her post will be deleted,,,,period!
This way, the debate can continue, by more reasonable adults and not spoil it for the rest of us.

I may be a little colourful with my language of someone not a member, but, I hope, never to a member of the forum.
